This article is supported and dedicated by a couple of my concussed patients. I"m assuming that you have endured a concussion from a head injury. You were evaluated, diagnosed with concussion and treated with prescription medications and a lot of rest. So, I"m not going to focus on symptoms, grading and the evaluation of concussions and head injuries. However, I am going to talk about treatment choices that are seldom brought to your attention and the mechanics of head injuries and concussions.
Jeff had to be pleased to be part of the U.S. Olympic members in Beijing at the age of nearly 41. However, he was not 4 inches long from making the finals which had to be a bit disappointing. The best vault Jeff did for the Olympics in Beijing was 18 feet, 2 inches and it took 18 feet, 6 inches for 12 of the 38 challengers to make the final round of jumping. With the 2012 Olympics planned for London just 4 years away, it"ll be pleasant to see if Jeff might have an additional look. With an elite athlete"s desire to keep on competing and Chiropractic services accessible to Jeff, only time will tell.
Abbreviations - If you are audited, don"t count on a chiropractor reviewing your records who"ll know what "PR-L" or "ASRA" or even "Sublux" means. For that matter, even a non-chiropractor may have problem with non-specific abbreviations like "PT." Did you send the patient for Physical Therapy or part-time work? The auditor isn"t going to attempt to translate your abbreviations, particularly when a key is not present that clarifies their patient. A wonderful SOAP note with one abbreviation that is unidentifiable can make you fail your audit. So, make sure that you are spelling it out clearly (another advantage to EMR, push the button and also the word comes out!) or that you provide a key that clearly translates all your abbreviations.
I have seen it over the years of my practice that children have a greater sense of well being and who receive routine chiropractic care have fewer illnesses. This means a joyful child who sleeps well and has a serene demeanor. All these are kids who do well in school and learn quickly. Many of the rigorous drugs including antibiotics and Ritalin are never wanted. Nor are invasive surgeries including fitting ear tubes or having tonsils removed.
